A New GollyGee Blocks Fan

Today I had the chance to show my nephew, age 5, GollyGee Blocks for the first time. He enjoyed building with it and made some neat pictures which I'll try to post at some point. Although only in kindergarten he quickly got into stacking the blocks to make complex structures. He liked building from the overhead view the best and then would look at the front 3D view.

One thing I noticed is that the butttons could be a little bigger. I also saw that he would sometimes color the same block lots of times, but then if he wanted to undo it he had to click undo lots of times. It really should only be once, I think. I also saw him have some difficulty with the save and load dialogs, which have never been very good.

DC OLPC Meetup tomorrow

Tomorrow (Weds Nov 14) we'll be having a meetup in DC to talk about OLPC. I'll bring along my test units (a BTest-2 and BTest-4; the BTest-4 is pretty close to the final version that G1G1 is selling). Read more at OLPC News and come join us!

Whither Town

I've posted a note explaining why I haven't released GollyGee Town yet over at the GollyGee Town Crier. Well, I didn't mention the day job and two kids, but there's more to it than that.

You can blame the kids for the dusty website, though. And the bags under my eyes because a two year old who shall remain nameless wakes up at 4am, turns on the lamp and says "I want to play at night!"

Regrettably these events are unrelated

I told my wife I was feeling old. She sent me a job listing for a COBOL programmer.
