1. I have OS 8.6, and it says I need OS 9.0 to install. What do I do?
When we made the first run of our Mac CDs, we didn't know that GollyGee Blocks® worked on OS 8.6, so we thought we'd better play it safe. When the installer warns you that you don't have OS 9.0, just click Continue to install it anyways.

2. Does GollyGee Blocks® work with Mac OS X?
Yes, version 1.5 includes a Mac OS X native version. We plan to post a downloadable update for people with version 1.4 who wish to run the OS X version. If you have an urgent need for it, please contact us.

3. When I run the program it says it can't find OpenGL. What do I do?
This usually only happens with early versions of OS 8. We have included the Apple OpenGL installer on our CD for people running this version of Mac OS. Open up the GollyGee Blocks CD, then open the "OpenGL Install" folder. Run the OpenGL installer and you should be all set.

4. Sometimes it gets stuck in spin mode, how do I get it to stop?
Hold down the shift key and click twice on one of the rotate buttons in the lower right corner of the screen. Afterwords you may wish to press the Home button on the right toolbar to reset the camera.

5. How do I get it to stop flickering when I press undo?
A quick workaround is to turn wireframe mode on and off by pressing the pyramid button on the right side of the screen. This will correctly fix the display. The flickering error has been fixed in the most recent version of GollyGee Blocks®.

6. How do I print?
Version 1.4 of GollyGee Blocks (what you received if you purchased it before January 2004) did not have printing on the Mac. A workaround is to take a snapshot of the scene and print it out using QuickTime or AppleWorks. To find the snapshots, open the GollyGee Blocks folder, and look in the Snapshots folder.

7. Can I load scenes from GollyGee Blocks into AppleWorks or other programs? Other programs cannot read the 3D data format that GollyGee Blocks uses, but you can take snapshots of your scenes which many program like AppleWorks or QuickTime can read. To take a snapshot, go to the file menu, and click on the camera button. In OS X you can also press the little camera button near the top of the right side toolbar which will copy the current image of the scene into the clipboard. Then you can switch to another application and paste the image where you want it.

8. Where are files saved in GollyGee Blocks? Can I change where they are saved?
In OS 8 and 9, 3D scenes are saved in the Scenes folder of the GollyGee Blocks directory and snapshots are saved in the Snapshots folder of the GollyGee Blocks directory. This cannot be changed, though we hope to add that functionality in the future.

In OS X, a directory called GollyGee Blocks Scenes is created in the users Documents directory and the 3D scenes are saved there. Snapshots are saved in the GollyGee Blocks Snapshots folder of the Pictures folder of the users home directory. Different users will not see each others scenes and snapshots when they run GollyGee Blocks.

We have seen people make animations by importing lots of scenes into iPhoto and then exporting them as a Quicktime movie with a fractional (0.1 or 0.2) number of seconds between frames. Try it!
